Johnson, of Monroe County, was shot and killed during an argument in the parking lot of Target in the Lower Nazareth Commons shopping center on Dryland Way around 2:15 p.m., Northampton County District Attorney Terence Houck said.

Johnson was passionate and skilled at football and had played throughout high school, according to a fundraiser started for funeral expenses.

“He was a tenacious young man,” reads the fundraiser, launched by Trisha Zalewski, who identifies herself as a friend of Johnson’s mother, Jaime. “He truly had so many dreams and was always chasing after his next goal to crush.”

Also known for his love for family, Johnson had goals to attend college and continue working, the fundraiser says.

“He was the type of man to give the shirt off his back. If he cared about you he meant it and showed it.”

More than $9,400 had been raised as of Thursday on the fundraiser, which will also be used for other expenses.

“We want to work together and show Elijah’s family that they are not alone,” the fundraiser says. “He is truly one of a kind and we will all miss him greatly.”
